What Are Crowns & Bridges?
Crowns and bridges are both restorative dental treatments used in an effort to restore the typical appearance and function of your smile.
They can fill the space left by missing teeth and also help return your ability to eat and speak properly, and maintain your natural facial shape.
By repairing structural problems such as damaged or missing teeth with a dental crown or bridge, our dentists can alter your smile's appearance and preserve your oral health.
Dental Crowns
Dental crowns are hollow, artificial teeth that are placed over an entire decayed or damaged tooth to restore its original shape, size, and colour. Dental crowns help strengthen and change the appearance of a broken tooth that may otherwise require extraction.
Crowns are strong and can be made from a variety of materials, including porcelain and metal. They look and function like natural teeth, and when cared for properly, can last 10 years or more.
Dental Bridges
A dental bridge is a natural-looking dental restoration that 'bridges' a gap of missing teeth in a patient's mouth. A dental bridge is made up of one or more artificial teeth, the bridge is affixed to the teeth on either side of the gap to fill in the space.
A bridge helps to prevent your other teeth from shifting positions to fill the space. If this were to occur, it could lead to more serious dental issues including gum disease down the road.
